Since the housing developer received Eric’s report, they have been fixing each issue page by page. I am almost certain, the number of issues raised wouldn’t have been spotted by myself going around the property, nor would the amount of issues been addressed or fixed as easily as they have.

“On the 7th February 23 Eric Doel conducted a full survey of my property. The house is a four-bedroom detached property with a garage and garden wall. The survey was to include snags and to comply with all current NHBC building regulations.
He followed a schedule to ensure all parts of the property were built to regulations and took photographs and notes throughout the day. He clearly communicated any concerns during the survey ensuring that I understood what was at fault and what those faults could cause.
Internal inspection of roof spaces including trusses, valley boards and insulation were found to have problems and photographic evidence with a summary of problems was shown in the final report. All windows and sills, any alignments out of tolerance and any sloping of Georgian bars were highlighted, photographed as proof and added to the report.
All electrics and plumbing were checked. The heating system was thoroughly checked for temperature and leaks. Ventilation and fans were checked ensuring they fall within code. Fire rating of doors was checked and Eric ensured that the right type of door was used and in date. Even the build standard and quality of workmanship was checked and written evidence/photographs taken for the final report.
External checks of the roof, rendering and brickwork was conducted and again photographs and a written summary provided as evidence. Where shortfalls in standards was evident this was highlighted, communicated to me and written in the report.
Having a full survey of a new build property will give you peace of mind and could save money ensuring the builder is held accountable where standards are not met. The full written report is comprehensive evidence of shortfalls in compliance to standards and helps to ensure the builder knows what you need rectifying.

“We were having problems with our housing developer regarding a boundary wall cracking for the 3rd time, following two previous rebuilds. Our main concern was the integrity of the foundation at this point. We appointed Eric Doel of Quality Inspections Ltd, after searching for an independent to do an assessment. From the initial meet with Eric he was approachable, we knew what was happening, he managed our expectations and he listened when we told him about prior communication problems with our developer. Eric attended several meetings we had with the construction director of the development company, to ensure we were being provided accurate technical information, was able to appropriately question and contribute in the meetings on our behalf; which proved invaluable to us. He went over and above our expectations, dropping by on multiple occasions to appraise progress throughout the rebuild, pointing out structural and measurement issues along the way, so they could be remedied before continuing. Following completion a detailed and thorough report was produced for us, which included all of the relevant information from the point of our original complaint through to satisfactory completion of the remedial work undertaken.
